Frequently asked questions

What is the Indiana Pacers magic number right now?

The Indiana Pacers magic number is currently 83. Any combination of Indiana Pacers wins and losses by the team chasing them that adds up to 83 clinches a playoff spot — a top-6 seed, skipping the play-in.

What is the Indiana Pacers elimination number?

The Indiana Pacers elimination number is 83. When it hits 0 the team is mathematically eliminated from playoff contention — they can no longer finish in the top 10 and reach the play-in. It shrinks when the Indiana Pacers lose or when the team chasing them gains ground.

Will the Indiana Pacers be in the play-in tournament?

Not decided yet. The Indiana Pacers need 83 more (wins plus losses by the team chasing them for the No. 10 seed) to lock in at least a play-in spot, and 83 to clinch a top-6 seed and skip it.

What are the Indiana Pacers playoff odds?

What is a magic number in basketball?

A magic number is the combined total of team wins and chasing-team losses that guarantees a top-6 seed in the conference — a playoff berth without the play-in tournament. Seeds 7 through 10 go to the play-in for the last two spots, so we also track a separate play-in magic number (a guaranteed top-10 finish).

When did the Indiana Pacers last make the playoffs?

The Indiana Pacers last made the NBA playoffs in 2024-25, missing the postseason once since.

When did the Indiana Pacers last win the NBA championship?
