How Magic and Tragic numbers work

Magic and Tragic are playoff countdowns, in games. You want your team's Magic to hit 0 before Tragic does.

Magic # — How close you are to clinching a top-6 seed (a playoff berth without the play-in). Any combination of your wins and the chaser's losses counts.
Tragic # — How close you are to elimination from the top 10 — out of the play-in, out of the postseason.
Play-in — The countdown to locking up at least a top-10 finish. Seeds 7–10 play for the last two playoff spots.
